17.5. Spot Table

Users can add an edit their own spot colour tables that will then be used by the Rosetta RIP when printing PDF, Postscript or EPS files with spot colours embedded. Spot colours are defined when designing documents in applications such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw. These are vector entities with solid colours from various industry standard libraries such Pantone or user-defined ones.

The above image demonstrates the difference between recognising and managing spot colours (Pantone in this case) properly or not. Every spot colour has an alternate colour space and definition that is used in case the spot colour has not been defined in the system. In majority of cases the spot colour version produces better and more accurate colours and the reason that they are used.
