8.1.1.2.2. RIP Mode

The Rosetta RIP automatically detects the various elements in a document when processing them. This will then allow the RIP to apply the correct ICC transformations.

For instance, if a document contains both RGB and CMYK objects (bitmap and vector) within it then the RIP would apply the corresponding input profiles as well as the right transformation for any spot colours found.

This is the default behaviour of the RIP when the RIP Mode is set to Default. Users can override this and force the RIP to operate in either RGB or CMYK mode. This would mean that the whole document is first rasterised and converted to the selected colour space and then processed for printing. This is similar to the user opening the PDF document in Adobe Photoshop and then saving it as a CMYK or RGB Tiff file before sending to the RIP for printing.
